Patient Interest Groups
Patient Interest Groups are able to collate comments from a number of patients and carers and provide these in the form of a submission of evidence to SMC. These submissions are an important part of the SMC’s assessment process.
To help Patient Interest Groups make effective submissions we provide a submission guide and a submission template. SMC are currently piloting a new Patient Interest Group Submission Template and Guidance and it is anticipated that this will be put in place from early next year with worked examples submitted by Patient Interest Groups who have participated in the pilot.
The pharmaceutical company also may prepare a Summary of Information for Patients (SIP)It should be noted, however, that the SMC are acting only as a communication channel for the SIP and do not endorse the information it contains.
If you want to know which new medicines we will be reviewing in the near future, please have a look at our Forthcoming Submissions section.
The website www.patient.co.uk provides non-medical people in the UK with good quality information about health, disease and patient support groups. (Please note that this is just one of many sites providing information about self-help groups. SMC does not endorse or accept responsibility for the content of any such site.)
PAPIG aims to provide information, guidance and help for patient groups.
